Q: How to couple airport express with powerline solutions?

I have this small issue and I really appreciate some advice on how to rectify this problem. I have an WLAN modem in one corner of my house and the signal strength in my room is pretty weak. So weak that infact I cant even receive the Wi-Fi signal over my iPhone.
As I stay in Germany, the WLAN modem has been provided by my ISP and its called a FRITZ Box 7312. After speaking to a friend of mine, he suggested me to use powerline solutions to increase the Wi-Fi signal in my room.
So, here is what I did.
1. Connected an ethernet cable to the NETGEAR Powerline solution and to my WLAN modem.
2. In my room, I connected the other NETGEAR Powerline solution through an ethernet cable to my Airport express. The ethernet cable is connected to the WLAN ethernet socket of the airport express.
The Airport express LED is glowing green. And for the first 5 or 10 mins, I am able to connect to the wi-fi network generated by my airport express with no hassles. It works over my phone as well as my laptop. However, after 10 mins, I am getting reconnected to the original wi-fi network. When I try to connect to my airport express, it says "no internet connection available". I tried running the Airport utility, but it says no base stations found.
This is the first time I am using a Powerline solution and I honestly have no clue over the exact cause of the problem. It wouldnt matter if I couldnt connect to my airport express in the first place, but it does connect to it and after sometime, my Macbook wi-fi automatically connects to the original wi-fi network and the signal is too weak.
The original wi-fi network is called FRITZ BOX! 7312 and the one generated by my airport express is Macbook Wi-fi.
