NO FACTORY UNLOCKED 5S AVAILABLE IN THE USA AT THIS TIME.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble.

The current "T-Mobile Contract Free" iphone 5S is not the "factory unlocked" versions we have bought in the past. The contract free 5Ss are unlocked GSM iphone. This means, you can use any GSM carrier in that phone.

Verizon does not sell "factory unlocked" phones. You may purchase an unlocked CDMA iphone from them and exchange CDMA carrier sims (Sprint, Verizon) in that phone.

I went to my Apple store right before launch day. I was excited to possibly get my factory unlocked iphone on lauch day. HOWEVER, I was a bit confused by apple.com. If you read carefully, it states the "contract Free unlocked" iphone 5S is not compatible with CDMA phones and further, the specs are not compatible with all international carriers and data frequencies.

However, is does say unlocked and it is the high price some of us except to pay. HOWEVER, when talking with apple customer service it was confirmed that "later" only GSM unlocked or CDMA unlocked iphones will be available for sale. I was told to expect an additional month after for "factory unlocked" iphones to be released.

I am very disappointed since I used to live in the UK and am not used to waiting. However, since I travel extensively, I prefer to wait for a phone that has no limits. To be honest, the average America or occassional traveller will get by with the T-Mobile contract free GSM unlocked iphone. So, don't worry.

But, I don't want you guys to be confused or dupped by apple's wording. Sorry for the long reply.

It is you who are confused and don't know what you're talking about.

First, there never has been an unlocked CDMA iPhone. ALL unlocked iPhones are unlocked for GSM only. The Verizon phone is unlocked for GSM, but the CDMA is permanently locked to Verizon.

The T-Mobile is the unlocked model 1533 shipped with an inactive T-Mobile SIM card, which can be substituted with any GSM carrier SIM card. It is identical to the not yet available "SIM Free" phone which is shipped without any SIM card.

FYI, there has never been any phone sold by Apple which they call "Factory Unlocked."

Hey Modular,

Do you know if the iPhone 5s Tmobile unlocked will work with a carrier called "Solavei". Solavei also uses GSM SIM card(Nano SIM).

Solavei said "

any unlocked GSMphone compatible with the T-Mobile Network in the USA will work. Or As long as it's GSM unlocked phone."

www.solavei.com/

You said you insert AT&T nano SIM in and it work for iPhone 5s. Do you have to do any set up or is the SIM ready for use.

Here's what i oredered on the September 21st:

LOL, I received the case yesterday...

Please let me know if iPhone 5s will work with this network or not. Thanks.

Guys, here is what i got after visiting Apple Flagship store, taking to apple genius and hours spent on reading different blogs on iPhone 5S Factory Unlocked Phones.

T-Mobile unlocked phone is a CONTRACT FREE phone, NOT an Facoty Unlocked phone make this clear in your minds, it will work within US with other carrier too but if u take it out side the US in anyother country it might work and more chances are that it will NOT work as it will depend if T-Mobile supports ur desired carrier, like I wanted to take iPhone 5S to my home country in Pakistan but the apple "genius" said it might or might not work there and if im willing to take that risk......hearing that after waiting for hrs wanted me to kick my self.........

There is no date yet announced for the availability of a iPhone 5S factory unlocked phone, but "they" say it will come sometime around christmas (hopefully).

So guys, if u want an iPhone 5S factory unlocked phone, WAIT FOR IT dont go spending $649 on something that "might or might not work" and pray that Jobs kicks apple poeple hindside from his grave so that they get their act together and stop confusing ppl. and my apologies for the long post.....

Hello,

So I can buy T-Mobile Contract free 5S and it will work outside USA with another GSM operator and there will be no need to jailbreak, unlock or do some stuff?

And I've read this on Apple.com: " If you choose T-Mobile, your iPhone comes with a T-Mobile SIM card already installed. You will need to contact T-Mobile or visit an Apple Retail Store to activate your iPhone". I won't be able to contact T-mobile or visit Apple reatil store, so will 5S still accept non US GSM operator, without activating T-Mobile sim?

Thanks in advance..

When will the factory unlocked version of the iphone 5s be released ?
