Why (with new update) are all available (previously listened to and deleted) podcasts on my screen? Why wont they delete?

I am an avid podcast listener. I like a clean screen that shows only what I need to listen to. I delete past episodes as soon as they are done. With the new update all available past episodes are sitting there wasting space. I have tried deleting in about every screen that has now become available.

--If you left click on an episode it gives no delete option. It has a line that says "Show old episodes" but no option to change that.

--If I click "My Podcasts" I can click enough buttons to finally get a "delete" but when I go back to the list, it is still there.

The only way to get rid of the list is to unsubscribe. Thats just stupid. This alone makes me hate the new update.
