iOS 7 clock/stopwatch defaults to timer

In previous versions of iOS, the clock/stopwatch/timer would default to whichever one you used previously. Now it always defaults to timer which isn't a big deal, but it is annoying if you are trying to use the world clock or stopwatch frequently and it keeps going straight to timer.

Has anyone found a setting that will change the default to be the most recent one used?

The way it worked before was for opening the Clock app on the phone. In Control Center, you are using a shortcut to open the Timer, so it is performing exactly how it should. As indicated in the User Guide, that shortcut opens Timer, not Clock, or Stopwatch. Again, you can provide feedback to Apple if you would like the shortcut to open something different. It wasn't color commentary, and it was not initially addressed to you either. This thread is over a year old. If you opened Clock in the past and tapped on Timer, the timer portion of the app was activated. This is the same process, except that you are eliminating the part of opening Clock first. If you use the clock app it still works like in iOS 6. If you use the control center short cut it always defaults to timer. It doesn't make sense, really.

I got rid of the the clock on my home screen because it is now in control center as I felt it was redundant. Now I am considering bringing it back because I use my clock a lot and it does get annoying after a while. I did the same thing with my camera app. That would be like the camera defaulting to panoramic mode every time you access it from control center.

Here's hoping for a fix.

I'm not sure about your phone, but in Control Center, my icon is to open the timer, not the clock, or the alarm, or the stopwatch. If I want that, or to open the last one I used, I have to go to the Clock icon. It defaults to timer because that is what the setting is for. If you would like to see Clock or alarm, then you can use the feedback link that Meg provided to let Apple know you would like to see a change. Kinda like complaining that the email icon brings you to email instead of phone.
