Burning DVD-/ R Dual Layer

i have some ISO files that are above the normal DVD R capacity so need to write them using Dual Layer discs.

are these supported to burn from my macbook pro (Late 2011 model) ???

when looking at the supported formats its not listed but does this mean the drive dosnt support the format or the dvd burning software as standard dosnt support the format?

In summary do i need some new software or and external drive ?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I've a late 2011 15" model and write archival data to dual-layer DVDs all the time.

You should be able to burn the dual-layer disc using only Apple's built-in software via the Finder.

You can burn dual layer discs (I have the same model, same optical drive, and I have done this). See screenshot below from my system information pane:

-R DL is a support DVD write format.

All you need is a dual layer disk 😉
