This STILL isn't working for me. I've tired everything single piece of advice on this thread but I still can't get rid of any of the artists I've ever bought in my iTunes. - EVEN U2, seriously! Kill me.

I've rebooted a million times, signed in and out of iTunes, hide all my purchase history, my phone is showing no data usage on iTunes, when I plug it into iTunes it showing 0gb in music, but my effing iTunes still isn't empty. ARGH!

    Does anyone have anymore ideas?

OK all, I finally figured out!!!!! I have an Iphone 6...

I read multiple suggestions, which all led me to this:

One person is correct that you cannot delete what is technically not there. SO, first you have to download the icloud music to your phone.

    settings----music----show all music----on

Then press the cloud icons to download every song (yes, every song).

After that (totally annoying), go back to settings---general---usage---manage storage---music--edit---press red minus sign to delete all or any of the icloud music from your phone.

    Hope this helps!

I just recently had issues with my phone where after I had deleted all my music from the device, it was still showing purchased content, including the **** U2 album. I had all the right things turned off, and everything was still there. And of course, I couldn't swipe and delete. So I decided to try things my way.

I opened iTunes and logged into my account.

iTunes >> iTunes Store >> Purchased

It was in my purchase account that I realized when you hovered over the content, a little X appears. This X allows you to HIDE, not delete, but HIDE the music from your phone.

After doing this to all the songs still on my phone, I watched them disappear from my phone as I "hid" each item. Including the "U2" album nobody knows how to get rid of. So I hope this helps.

I hate how they keep changing the interface with each new "update". It makes it difficult everytime I have to go back and relearn how to do anything!

Anyway, if you're now using this latest iOS (8.4.1), on your device, if you go to "My Music", click on where it says Artists/Albums or whatever, the pop-up menu, at the bottom there is a prompt that says "Music Available Online". If you check that to ON, all the music you bought that you didn't sync through iTunes should go away. If after you do that, there is still a few songs left over, in your iTunes on your computer, make sure your device is plugged in, go under your device settings to "Music" and scroll ALL the way down. There might be a box that says "Manually Added Songs" or something like that, delete any of those songs in that box and you should be gtg!

I just fixed this problem. Just go to settings Music and turn off icloud music library. then connect your phone to the computer and sync your music. now it will be on your phone and not in the cloud using data

My problem is with iphone6. Brand new. I decided to set up as a new phone and grab my contacts from iCloud. All good. I was about to add some music when I noticed music I had purchased from iTunes was already there, I thought , cool. So at the park today with the dog decided to hear how the speakers worked, wasn't expecting much. So I hit the first track and nothing but a message to turn on my data. I was confused. I've purchased this music and in order to listen to it, I would have to pay, again. I've tried several methods to delete the "cloud" music. No success. Any ideas for iPhone 6? My cloud doesn't have a music section to turn off.   Much appreciated

LOl got it. Two hours but nevermind. Open music. Each song or album has three dots on the right. Touch and a menu opens with options like delete or make available off line. Too easy!
