Chinese T9 keyboard on iPhone ios7

I just updated my iPhone 4 to ios7 and was really looking forward to using the new T9 Chinese keyboard, but I don't have a T9 keyboard option! Why not?

I heard that the new T9 Chinese keyboard is only an option for Chinese iPhones (mine was bought in the UK), is this true? Is there any way to get around this? My phone's British but I write Chinese more than English!
