Q: How do I return to iOS 6 after iOS 7 install has failed?
I attempted to update my iPhone 4s last night via iTunes on my Mac. I backed up my iPhone 4s via iTunes. iTunes prompted me that it needed to be updated which I did. Then I proceeded to update my iPhone and iTunes made another back up of the iPhone. The download failed a few times but eventually completed. Eventually the update was proceeding and then I got a message stating the update failed for a unknown reason. Currently the iPhone is unusable and shows the iTune + iPhone or connect to iTunes picture and iTunes give this message ... "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3014)." I tried multiple scenarios from Apple Support Communities and nothing has worked.

I had to go into the Apple store and re-perform the same procedure done at home to install iOS 7 after trying the install from two different locations, my home with broad band cable modem and my parents with DSL. Performing the same install procedure at the Apple store worked fine. I was able to successfully install iOS 7 on both my iPhone 4s and my iPad 2. Just needed their WIFI connection. This is more evidence that there were issues with gs.apple.com or something with authentication with Apple servers.
It is upsetting that I could not even do a restore without authenticating with Apple servers.
