Lose my apps if I upgrade to 7?

Question

Lose my apps if I upgrade to 7?

I have several apps -- none of which is over a year old, but still, ones that I would not like to lose -- plus a Kindle app that lets me read all my Kindle-bought books.

If I upgrade to 7, is there a chance that any of these will stop working, and if so, do I have some recourse, ie.get my money back from the app developers? Or is iOS 7 pretty much 100% backwards-compatible?

BTW this also goes for my iPhone 3Gs and Apple TV 3rd Gen.

You won't lose your Apps if you upgrade. App developers are updating their apps in the App Store as fast as they can, so it is possible some may not work exactly as they do on your current version. If they don't, an update will come from the developer.

Well, the risk is not that your apps become uncompatible with iOS 7, the risk is that updating might make all your apps disappear and then prevent you from restoring correctly from a backup... Personal experience.

Well, that answer is not exactly reassuring. If everyone's apps suddenly disappeared from iOS 6's interface on upgrading to iOS 7, wouldn't there be a huge outcry? If so, I've heard/read nothing that indicates that in any way.

Also, "personal experience" is rather a coy comment that actually does nothing whatosever to address the question. Are you saying that when you yourself upgraded to iOS 7 from the previous OS you lost all your apps and could not get them back even though you had a backup of everything? That's alarming, to say the least.

That's exactly it, now I have lost all my apps, and the restore function didn't work the ~50 times I tried it. Seriously, for 8 hours I continuously clicked restore, tried any type of reset (from computer, from iPad, recovery mode, etc.).

I've had iPhones since the iPhone 4, iPads since the original and a couple of iPod touches before that. I have NEVER lost any data while updating. But I still maintain regular back ups (not just right before an update, either).

FYI, the Kindle app seems to be working just fine under iOS 7.
