transferred photos from computer won't show in picture folders or separate into albums.

I transferred photos from a computer to my ipad- roughly 8,000 of them. That computer has sinced crashed. The only copy of the pictures I have are on the Ipad. I also own a mac and have installed applications and apps to transfers the files, but when I try, the pictures don't show in the pictures folders and they don't separate into albums. I don't know what else to do. I am desperate to back up these pictures!!!
