Q: transfer data from macbook to mac mini

Although I'm more inclined to just use an External Hard Drive and keep the data on the External Hard Drive as a backup.

I use iCloud's Photostream. It works with iPhoto, Aperture, iPhone, and iPad. Once the images are in any of these, they are available to all devices sharing the same iCloud account.

If for some reason you choose not to use the free iCloud service Dropbox will work just about as well.
