Apple TV wants to connect to iTunes???

So I just updated my Apple TV (newest gen) and now it's asking me to connect it to iTunes with a MicroUSB?!? Is that really necessary? Has my Apple TV really been rendered useless until I connect it with iTunes?

If it truely is intentional that'll be the largest amount of crap ever from Apple.

I hope someone can help, thanks

This just happend to me two days ago. I had to run out on town and buy a micro USB cable.

I folllowed the instruction and reset the Apple to the latest version of the software and factory defaults. I then disconnected it from my computer and hooked it up to my TV. I then put the power back in and guess what? It shows the same nice litte "connect to Itunes" screen.

Boooh!

Yep. UnFreakin'Believable. I have to go to Best Buy and purchase a special USB. They couldn't include it or simply use a USB port that most people who don't live and work in Silicon Valley have?

Thanks to the poster who provided a feedback link. I told Apple that my Sony DVD player doesn't pull this BS and it also doesn't make me keep logging in to my Netflix Account one ... slow ... letter ... at ... a ..... time.

What happened to the Apple Computer company that was ... you know, user-friendly?

This isn't something that most users have to deal with, many devices use the connection so it's likely one would have it lying around. For those that don't have the cable, it can be found for cheap, as long as you don't go to a big box store.

If you own an IOS device it would be easier to use the remote app, or you could pair it with a bluetooth keyboard.
