I have about 750 DVD-R's that I want to back up to a 4TB hard drive.
I have two DVD drives ... the internal on my MacBook Pro and a second external drive.
Am I asking for trouble by running both DVD drives to the external hard drive at the same time?
Or is the Mac fully able to manage two data streams and load them to the external drive without any errors?

IMO, no, since I don't think the OS can manage multiple streams and keep them coherent. You could test and let us know. 😉

A proper test would be too time consuming for me. I had hoped someone might have tried this already, but ... I'm already 50 or so DVDs into the project - loading one disc at a time.
I'm going to go with your educated guess and stay away from trying to load two in at a time.
