Letter N Typing When Key Not Pressed

When I type, the "n" letter witll randomly type when I did not press it. The keys I press DO type their correct letter, but additional "n" letters appear.

Sometimes a long string of Ns will type out continually until I press delete several times to stop it. Even if I have ceased to type, if then cursor is left in a text field then the Ns may type out a long string without end until I intervene.

The actual key is not stuck. I have not spilled anything on the board. Suggestions?

I restarted with option-apple-p-r & it was good for about 1 minute then got bad again. My arrow cursor is now taking to blinking into a type cursor when in a browser window after typing also. If I click off the window & then back on it stops.

I don't know where to begin to fix this. It's getting worse though; I can hardly type. I had to edit a gazillion Ns out of this.

It's possible there is dirt trapped under the key. Use a can of compressed air or a brushed vacuum hose to remove the dirt. If possible remove the key to clean - Do-It-Yourself Laptop Repair

Research YouTube's 'How To' video tutorials

If unsuccessful take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. More than likely the issue is hardware which only a repair tech can advise.
