Can I charge a Nano 5th gen. with the power adapter from my Nano 3rd gen.?

Hi -- I lost my iPod Nano 3rd generation, and replaced it with the 5th generation. The 5 only comes with a USB charger cable. Can I use the plug-in-to-the-wall cable I still have from my 3 to charge my 5? I'm afraid to try and see for myself, for fear of exploding my iPod or something. 🙂 Thanks.

iPod nano, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Thank you so much for replying. It gave me the confidence to plug my iPod in to the wall ... but I got a message on its screen, "This device is not supported by this accessory." (For full disclosure -- in case it varies -- this is the cable with the wide end that goes into the iPod, and the firewire end that goes into the square block thing with the plug on it.) I apologize if I'm missing something! Thanks -- Erin
