Do I still need to swipe to open with Touch ID security?

Do I still need to swipe my iPhone to open it with Touch ID security? It seems like when I first activated my phone this morning, I didn't need to swipe, but now one of my settings must have been changed inadvertantly and even after I utilize the Touch ID, I need to swipe to open my phone.
