The update killed my Apple TV. I am trying to restore it with iTunes but the process fails with error code 1611. A unknown problem with the Apple TV. Any ideas on how to get past this error message so I can restore it.

Make sure unit is also powered up with power cord when restoring.

It is plugged in with a micro usb cable.
I have tired to restore it on both my MAC and Windows laptop. I get the same error each time.
Error 1611, the error occurs while iTunes is "Preparing Apple TV for the update"
Make sure virus software is turned off, try a new USB cable and/or try entering DFU mode first.
Thanks, not sure what DFU mode is.
Nonetheless, after a few days unplugged I tried the restore again and it worked. Up and running with software 6 now.
