Touch ID won't work for in app purchases.

Has anyone being able to make a purchase through the touch ID feature whenever I try it only gives me the option for a password. It works to unlock the phone fine but whenever I purchase something either free or for credit it asks me to input the password again.

iPhone 5s, iPhone 5S 7.0.1

I was able to use touch ID for App Store purchases before I updated to iOS 7.0.1... After that update the AppStore never prompted me to use touch ID for purchases and I would have to type in my password. The update to iOS 7.0.1 did the opposite for me of what it was supposed to fix for everyone else.


So far, I've tried:a complete restore, setting it up as a brand new iPhone, signing out of my iTunes account and signing back on, and using another iTunes account (re-doing my finger print and settings each time). I even put my iPhone on DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode, deleted the iOS 7.0.1 firmware file on my computer to force a brand new download, and had it reinstalled on my iPhone.. Only to have the same problem still.


I visited the "Genius Bar" and they could only offer a replacement (which I haven't done yet).

If I may add: if you just upgraded phone (said 4s to 5s) and on your previous phone you had restrictions activated; even if you don't activate this option you need to watch out for this.To explain: I had restrictions on my previous phone. Strange enough It looks like icloud copy the settings but didn't activated the restrictions. My previous restriction was set to require password "inmmediately". I had to activated, make the change to 15 min and than deactivated again. This fix it for me.
