All notification sounds stopped working since ios7 on my ipad

Since making the ill fated decision to upgrade my ipad to ios7 ... amongst all the other issues - I've found that none of the notification sounds are working.

When people facetime me, unless I'm looking at the ipad - I have no idea someone is calling!

The camera app no longer makes the click sound when a picture is taken.

Emails - nothing to confirm that all the emails have been downloaded and no 'whoosh' sound to confirm that an email has actually been sent.

Have checked settings > sounds and everything is as it should be.

Anyone else having this problem?

Resetting the ipad as suggested did not resolve the issue.

The situation is actually worse (not a result of the reset) - it actually is a much bigger problem than that. All sound is stopped on applications (eg. twitterific) and even games have been muted (eg. Candy Crush, Bubble Witch, The Snowman, Pac Man etc) ... even the iPad sleep button no longer has the 'off/sleep' click!

For the first time - I'm actually thinking that buying an ipad was a big mistake. The ios7 release has screwed up so many things - we're not talking about bugs, this is basic functionality that has stopped working!

Finally got sound back though I'm not sure if it was just pure luck!

Applied the latest update to ios7 which made no difference then went into settings > sounds ... moved the volume slider right over to the left (silent) then all the way over to the right (highest volume) and suddenly have sound back!

One things for sure, I won't be rushing to apply any future ios updates after this. Wallpaper sizing issue is still unresolved.

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini, but I only had the problem on the iPad Mini.

I did not try moving the volume slider as you did but what I describe below worked for me.

This is what I posted in another thread:

I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE FIX FOR THIS! ... (Well it worked for me on my iPad Mini.)

I saw a post from an apple rep telling a iOS 6 user to turn the side switch on to un-mute the sounds. A no-brainier yes, but it made me wonder if the side switch may have been temporarily "confused" after updating to iOS 7 because it added the new settings screen that swipes up from the bottom of the screen. I was using my side-switch to lock the screen rotation and it was in the "off" (down) position (red visible) and none of my notifications were sounding. So I flipped it up and down a couple times which didn't solve the problem. So logically, I proceeded to what inevitably solved the problem...

Go to Settings > General / "Use Side Switch To" and select the opposite of what you are currently using. I had mine on Lock Rotation, so I selected Mute. Then flip your switch up and down slowly a couple of times to see that the confirmation on the screen is correct. You may have to go back to settings again and select the other choice if you originally had Mute selected, I don't know because I originally had Lock Rotation in use.

Hopefully, this will fix your notification sounds (and the lock sound when you press the power button). After using this fix, you can set the use of the side switch to your preference and still have all of your notification sounds!

Hi all, I had the same problem, notification sounds and click when closing cover stopped working for no apparent reason, I read the suggestions listed here to give me an idea where to look and how to solve the problem, this is what I did! Settings, General, Lock Sounds[ this was deactivated slide to left and not highlighted in green] just slid the button across so it turned green, which you would think meant it was locked but it worked, seems like the ios7 has got a few things back to front

Fabulous! I have got my sounds back. Weird how much I missed them when they were gone.

I followed your advice and discovered that in fact as you had suggested, my lock/mute button had become confused.

I had it in the lock position initially, so changed it to mute and then back a few times and finally back to lock and it now works perfectly.

Thank you so much for this.
