New iphone - already have ipad

I have an ipad (retina display). I am getting the iphone 5s next week (i am/was an android user). When I receive the new iphone - should I restore from backup so that all of my contacts/apps/etc. info transfers to the new iphone or will I have to reenter everything and download all of my apps and such again?

I would prefer to use icloud vs itunes (ipad is always backed up to icloud). So when I "restore from backup" my iphone & ipad should be identical?

It will except for the applications which are not compatible for the iPad.

Yep. Except for Apps that are iPad only.
