Sep 30, 2013 8:20 AM in response to GMfromstudio cityby kstef,I was having this same problem. On my iPhone 5, I noticed there was an update badge for software under Settings/General/Software_Update - from iOS 7 to iOS 7.0.2. I disconnected from iTunes on my computer and disconnected USB cord. I updated the iOS software to 7.0.2 through my iPhone and waited for that to finish. Then reconnected to iTunes and didn't have any problem after that, all synced as usual after that update.

Oct 16, 2013 7:36 AM in response to kstefby juliefarr,I am having a similar problem. I am on 7.0.2 on both my phone and itunes and I get the same message. However, I can choose sync on iTunes and it works. It's just a pain to remember now that I have to manually sync. Any ideas?

Photos for MacI've been having the same problem with my iPhone for the past 2 weeks. Neither my wife's nor my Son's iOS device have had this problem until today. Now all three are unable to sync up new movies, pics & new music not auto-downloaded from Apple. It will make a backup of the iOS device just not transfer media.
I'm up to date with the latest version of iTunes for Mac. Also on iOS7.0.3 on all iOS devices.
Help appreciated.

Nov 23, 2013 7:02 AM in response to GMfromstudio cityby Frozo,Same think here. New 27" iMac, new Lighting to USB cable (Ive heard it could be the cable, but my iPad Air syncs perfectly every time).
Just set up the new iMac last night (Mavericks pre-installed), migrated my old computer over. The problem never existed on old Mac (with Mountain Lion). Something with the new OSX or computer itself, it seems to me.
It started doing it intermittently last night after the new iMac setup, but this morning it's happening every time.
Things I've tried:
• Tried resetting iPhone (holding power and Home buttons).
• Restarted iMac.
• Ive tried other USB ports.
• Removed the dock I was using and used wire directly from iMac to iPhone.
I also would occasionally get the (-50) error at first as well.
Trying to avoid resetting from iTunes and installing everyting back because it will take all day--and Im not convinced that's even the issue.

Dec 2, 2013 6:22 PM in response to GMfromstudio cityby roguedad,Have the same problem with my iphone 4S running iOS 7.0.4 with OSX Mavericks iTunes 11.1.3.
Fails with "could not be sync because connection to the phone was reset".
I can import pictures from the phone no problem.
Seems to fail on the backup. After the failure the itunes no longer sees the phone.
But I can still import pictures from it. What's the plan to fix?

Dec 2, 2013 9:08 PM in response to roguedadby Frozo,For me, it just kind of fixed itself. I didnt have to restore the phone or do anything drastic. I did turn off the 2 settings "Sync this Phone over WiFi" and "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected". Not sure if either/or were responsible for the fix.
But I just realized, I had just switched over to a new iMac when this started happening (I used Migration Assistant). My old Mac Pro was still turned on and maybe the iPhone was trying to sync to 2 iTunes libraries over WiFi simultaneously and caused this error. I have had the Mac Pro turned off since I started troubleshooting this issue, so it could have very well been the problem (for me anyway).

Dec 3, 2013 5:50 AM in response to Frozoby roguedad,Pointing to having two possible macs that the iphone is syncing too made me thing of my configuration.
I have an iMAC and macbook. Noticed that my iphone was also trying to sync to the macbook. With the macbook off, the iphone sync'd. Could be something in Mavericks that changed how this works. Have had both for a while.

Dec 3, 2013 12:36 PM in response to GMfromstudio cityby tokyojerry1207,I recently posted about this problem already but Apple decided to ad hoc delete my comment because I did not speak favorably of Apple making a comment not to their liking which (was),
there is no support solution coming at all from Apple even though various individuals report the exact same or simlar problem here, including myself on Apple-sponsored community blogs.
Well, I took this problem into my own hands and was able to simply resolve the matter on my own, (I think):
Under System Preferences / General / Reset....
* "Reset All Settings" (first at the top in the list on that page).
That seems to have resolved my issue with this nagging problem.
"the iphone could not be synced because connection to the iphone was reset"At least so far I seem to not be getting this problem. You will still keep all your data but it will reset your system's settings (i.e., multiple keyboard selection, et el).
Hope this helps someone out there.

Mar 11, 2014 2:34 AM in response to GMfromstudio cityby uvesten,I just saw this problem for the first time. As suggested in the comments, I reset my network settings in General/Reset/Reset Network Settings.
Now the syncing works perfectly again.
Details: iPhone 5 / iOS 7.0.6 / OSX 10.9.2 / iTunes 11.1.5
(Strange that it would affect syncing, but there you are.)
