You can't get the old calendar back. However, there are lots of other calendar apps in the App Store. Perhaps one of them will meet your needs. Week Cal, for example, has a month view almost exactly like the one in the iOS Calendar app.
Best of luck.

Hey Nnaomi...I totally agree. I am not feeling the calendar for this upgrade. The months are all running together now...not separately. The icon showed the correct date (Saturday), but when I opened it up, it still showed the day before circled (Friday). I like the swipe page on my iPad with the older version. Even though when I hit the arrow for the next month on my iPhone it would open up to schedule an appointment, that was better then this version. This one is just too plain...no pizzazz! So far this is the only thing I dislike with the new upgrade...SO FAR!!! (LOL...LOL)
I agree so far it's just the calendar I do not like.
I hated it so much I down loaded an app called
Calendar life it's like the old calendar but
With more features and I can link with outlook
So for now I think I won't be using my calendar.
the new calendar does not link with outlook! 😟
I have lost all my appointments since upgrading to ios7 .... and it won't let me put in new appointments 😟
The only Week Calendar I found is a paid version. Can't test it either.
Week Cal costs $1.99. I helped someone download it this morning.
The calendar app I bought is 2.99 and you can try it free
But it has ads. So far I really like it. It's
Like the iPhone calendar before IOS 7 but better
It's called pocket life. You can link all your calendars into one!!
Thanks Nnaomi, checking out Pocket Life now, seems to be a great choice.
If it works well, I may update to iOS 7.
IOS 7's calendar is terrible. I cannot view the content accurately/efficiently because of the new screen layout. I am a heavy user of the integrated IOS calendar and need its connections to other platforms... So replacing with a third party app is not a good remedy.
This does not bode well for my business or personal time management. I am considering leaving Apple for the first time.

Any calendar app I have ever installed on my iPhone or iPad uses exactly the same data as the built in app. They are all just front ends for what ever calendar you have set up in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calender. My primary calendar is Google. I can see that information in the built in Calendar app, in Week Cal, in Cal (my current favorite) or any other calendar app. So, yes, a third party app is a perfectly good remedy.
The new calendar is sure different, and I didn't like it at first. Now that I'm learning the new way to use it, it's going to be okay. If this was the first iteration of the calendar, then I would never have disliked it. My problem is that I learned on the old calendar, and teaching an old dog new tricks is not easy. There are other parts of IO 7 that I'm still having problems with. Oh well . . . .

Change can be challenging but often worth making the effort. 🙂
I also though, hey, what happened to my calendar. But once I learned how to use the new Calendar I find I like it much better. I especially like the day at a glance view and having the red time line gives me a nice indication of how much time I have before my next appointment.
I personally can't stand the fact when I am on any given day, there is no list view for all the events at the bottom like there used to be. This is an extremely bizare thing for them to get rid of in my opinion. It is much more cumbersome to see your events quickly for the day now.
