Can you help with the search option in outlook 2011. It doesn't work at all.

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Hi Elbiaze,

As in Outlook 2011 for Mac any edition search tab (hidden) button does not appear directly on the screen. To make is visible you just have to follow few steps as shown in the below article-

With Outlook, Spotlight must be enabled for the drive your Main Identity database is on. If it is on and Outlook still returns no results, then your Spotlight database needs to be rebuilt.


Open the System Preferences and click on Spotlight, then the Privacy tab. Drag and drop your startup drive (I assume that's the one with Outlook on it) into the Privacy window to add it. This immediately trashes the current Spotlight database. Now highlight the drive icon and click the minus button to remove it from the Privacy window. Spotlight will build a new database for that drive. After that, searching in Outlook should work.
