Why can't Siri make calls on my Iphone5 with IOS7?

I upgraded to IOS 7 yesterday and since the upgrade Siri is no longer willing to make any phone calls with my IPhone 5.

Regardless of the number or contact, it constantly comes back with: uh oh, I can't make that phone call.

The contacts have been checked for accurate phone numbers, international. Dial assist is on, nothing helps.

Is this an IOS 7 issue or do I need to return my phone?

I've found recently that if any contact number is saved as "iPhone" Siri will fail to make the call. Simply switch the number to mobile, home etc.

Go to desired contact>edit and beside the number will be an aption of what the number is for.

Why Siri can not dial out to another iPhone is beyond me. Definitely something apple should fix!!!

Hello Ciddy14,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

First, if you have not already, I would restart the iPhone then try again.

  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.

  2. After the device has turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

If the issue persists, I would next try the troubleshooting in this article:

And if the issue still persists, I would then backup and restore your phone to iTunes.

I'm running into the same exact problem and resetting or rebooting or fixes it for a little while. I tell Siri "Call my wife" and instead of going off and dialing the favorites number of my wife, like it used to do, it asks for "home or cell" number and then it comes up with the "uh oh, I can't make that phone call" message.

having the same issue on a 4s with latest iOS 7 installed. Even rebooting phone does not work. Nor do the steps listed above. Any fix scheduled for this. Does the issue affect new iPhone 5s? Would like to know as I use voice dial frequently for hands free while driving and may be time to upgrade if fix isn't on horizon for older model devices.

All,

I found the solution (no thanks to Apple for their non-response):

If under Settings- ICloud your contact selection is "off" Siri won't voicedial (or learn relationships). Switch it on problem solved..

Apple: get your support act together. I have seen tons of these questions and I far not a single sensible apple suggestion

I find i pretty anoying that none of the apple staff is here on the forum to help getting questions answered. The only way is get help from them is by paying for it!!!!!

To me this is a pretty annoying thing, make something, most of the times it works flawless. But when it doesnt work, you need to pay to get help....
