Still not working for me. Clarification please. It's been weeks since this has worked I have lost faith in what I previously read about having the FMF Background App Refresh ON or OFF. It should be OFF, correct? Thanks.
I'm not really sure. For one day geogencing notifications work without any problem, the next day nothing works. Then it works again for few hours and stops again. It's like someone at Apple is deliberately pressing On and Off. I think it has nothing to do with the user's side.
Last year I and many others had a problem with eMail not pushing. On one day it worked, the other day it didn't. Everybody tried to figure out if some configurations might be wrong. But in the end something at Apple must had happend because Push is now working without problems.
I hope it's the same with Find my Friends. But Apple should fix that soon!
Having the same problem as everyone else it seems. All 5 phones in the family are either 5 or 5C with 2 iPads 4th generation. All have FMF turned on, all have ISO7. I can see where everyone is, when I go to the notify me section, and set up for it to notify me when someone leaves it will not alert me when they leave that location. It used to work. I don't know if it's the new ISO7 or new app. Or I have something on that should be off or off that should be on.
I finally got this to work. Here's my procedure (and it's not ideal).
On all phones, background run must be ON for FMF.
On my phone:
Delete app
Reboot phone
On my wife's phone (yeah, this is why it's not ideal):
Delete app
Reboot phone
Reinstall app on both phones
Sign in on both.
Setup geofence via Notify Me when (wife) leaves home on my phone
Setup geofence via Notify Me when (husband) leaves home on her phone
Et voila.
Notifications started working again.
So, it's not ideal because it requires your target to delete, reboot and reinstall/signin for this fix to work. That said, if you're using it to track your kids when they're out on dates or whatever, you should have access to use this workaround.
Hope this helps!!

I think you are right, in that the geo-fencing is reliant on the server to keep track of the notifications. While a re install might be a temp fix, its not going to solve the issue that the server is not always recognized location changes. Or it could be on the phone but that should still be a coding issue that can't be addressed by us. I use the app to see where people are when I am waiting for them, or if they seem to be in a location where they will be busy (like work). So while the notify and geo-fencing would be great I can wait.
I have tried what Bradnet has written down... when suddenly.... NOTHING happened... 😢
Thanks anyway.
Anyone else confirms that it works?
Tried everything mentioned for the last few weeks and then some. Geofencing still not working. Bummer.
Yeah it didn't work for me as well, I do like the new look and the way it works though. and for finding people in general it works a bit faster.
Hey! I retract my previous reply a couple of posts ago. **** geofencing notification worked!
Initially I thought it didn't but my geofence must have been set too large or else the alert took its sweet merry time in alerting. Bottom line, both my iPhone 5S and my wife's iPhone 4 alerted.
Strange thing with my wife's ... Deleted app and reinstalled it but it installed the old version. An upgrade was immediate . After that, I set up geofence...
Will try new alerts and see if those work too.
UPDATE: Well my geofence alerts are working....somewhat.
The problem is that the alerts start to arrive about an hour after the person has left the geofence... bah! 😮
Even after latest update and the previously suggested delete/reset/reinstall, geofencing still doesn't work unless both people have the app running (even if just in the background). If someone closes the app, it doesn't work anymore.
Apple has really fallen from the "it just works" concept with iOS 7 (remember that this App worked perfectly before iOS 7)!
Two iPhone 5s with iOS7, linked to the same apple id, we can see and follow each other on a map via find friends, but notify me has been greyed out at the top of the screen in iOS7 every time (infrequently) I look at it.
In the past with the 4s and ios6 it wouldn't alert me, but now I can't even set an alert?
The apple info regarding notify me says the other person needs a certain level of ios od recent phone. Well we have the latest hardware and software, so I guess this is another bug report to file with apple?
I asked aobut this at the Apple Store. They were aware of the problem and suggeste that I back up my iPhone and then do a Restore from backup. This apparently reloads the OS onto the phone. It worked and I get my notifications again.

That is interesting.
Both our phones are brand new, we haven't even loaded all our apps on it.
And, given the previous loss of app folders and organization, during a back & restore on both ipads and iphones, I'm not really eager to try it; but I guess, failing an update/fix from Apple, I'll be forced to bite the bullet.
