iOS 7 wifi "unable to join the network"

I have an iPhone 5 that I upgraded to iOS 7 on 9/18/13. My phone and wifi connections worked fine until this morning 9/21.

Now when I have tried connecting to 2 different wifi networks, my phone is giving me the message "unable to join the network." I don't know why this is happening, has anyone else had this issue?

Wifi has worked the past few days since I completed the update to iOS 7. It has shown as connected a few times today, but no data will load when this happens. I am hesitant to restore the entire phone unless I am sure it will fix the issue.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

I think i got it.

I am not a tech savy person so bare with me.

I had a similiar unable to connect when i tried my password after connecting to a friends router and returning home. My computer connected, however my iphone and ipad did not and failed to connect to any password i tried.

Here's what i noticed and did.

I reset the router and turned both devices on airplane mode.

When router was finished rebooting, I turned on wifi and found router.

I changed the name of router in the preferences to something simple.

I entered the router password into computer to get the wifi up and running.

At this point I noticed a number that comes up that allows for other networking devices to connect.

It looked like this - X00X-XX00-XXX0

Now I really dont know if this number is generated exclusively through my Dlink router, but if you notice a aplha numeric code appear in this style (just before it asks if you would like to connect this as your (HOME PUBLIC PRIVATE) connection, try entering it into your hand held devices as passwords to connect to router.

Should work.

Wish all of you best of luck,

This problem was a major pain in the ***.
Cheers

This issue was caused by the 7.0.3 update which rendered their phones useless. Everyone should log a complaint with the FTC. My 4s Wii stopped working when I updated it. Since my phone was 43 days over the warranty the "geniuses" said pay $200 to fix it. What stops a company from introducing code to do this intentionally so I have to buy a new phone? If that sounds bad, what is different from what we are going through?

Thank you. I believe that you are correct. Using AirPort Extreme and all MAC or iOS devices, since update only iPhones have an issue with "unable to connect". Tried all the usual suggestions but recently 2 iPhones refused to connect despite multiple resets, etc. All other devices were fine. Set offending iPhones to static IPs outside of DHCP range and immediately they connected and stayed connected without further issue. Looks like a temporary solution until Apple releases a fix for this.

This problem appears to occur from connecting to other wi-fi networks, other than your own. For example you used the wi-fi at a friends house and then came back to yours...that's when you can't connect to wi-fi.

THIS WORKED FOR ME: 1)CREATE A GUEST ACCOUNT and new password through your wi-fi network. 2) Login with from your apple device.

It took just one minute and I'm using the wi-fi again!

I am convinced that it is an issue with the iPhone/iOS upgrade (7.0.4).

a) The iPhone only connects within the same room (line of sight) with the router, and although it still recognizes the network and has a strong signal, it is "unable to connect" when in another room.

b) other devces (my iPod touch (iOS 6.1.3), iPad and Macbook Pro (with latest upgrade)) connect fine anywhere.

I've tried all the solutions including setting the static IP, but nothing works.

Luckily my phone is still under warranty, but I feel, given all the problems people here have shared, it won't solve the problem.

I certainly hope Apple addresses this issue.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

Same issue here. It was working just fine this morning then my iPhone 5 with 7.0.4 stop talking to my 2T ATC. All other devices including another iPhone 5 were fine. No amount of resets (phone, ATC) would work. The one varaible was me playing with the Timed Access Control feature of the ATC last night. I had set up an entry which limited my son's Xbox from accessing wifi after midnight. I removed that entry (which was definity the mac address of the Xbox and not the iPhone) then the ATC proceeded to do a reset. Upon coming back up my iPhone is now connected. I don't believe the Timed Access entry I did had anything to do with it but the particular reset the ATC went through did something to refresh the connection.

I solved this by pressing "other" underneath the heading "choose another network". I then chose the security of my router, put in the exact password and wrote the exact name of the wifi network. I was having the same issue as the one described. Additionally, when i tried to connect to the network before (after having forgotten the network) I was asked to give both a username and a password. There is no username for my wifi so I was very confused.

Read entire thread... tried all of the suggestions and also did restore and setup a "new iPad".

I have an out-of-warranty iPad3 with IOS7.0.4 installed for several months. One morning it connected to my WiFi network at home just fine. I returned home a few hours later and could not connect to any network.

I have one 802.11g and one 802.11n network. The WiFi router configs never changed and I have several other IOS7.0.4 iPhone5 devices that connect just fine along with two Apple TVs, one MacBook Air and an HP laptop.

After talking with Apple support (they were awesome and supportive despite being out of warranty BTW), they seemed pretty confident that this is a hardware issue... but the behaviour is just so strange. NOTE that my iPad will ONLY connect to the WiFi networks in an Apple store. NO other open or encrypted wireless networks work including coffee shops or even my iPhone5 tethering. The only way I can get Internet connectivity is to tether to my iPhone via Bluetooth.

I am currently waiting for my credit card extended warranty plan to approve an out-of-warranty replacement (C$299 + tax).

Looking forward to any other suggestions.

I installed IOS 7.1 Beta 1 yesterday on my iPad3 as a test. I can't activate the beta software but I can see the welcome screen which allows you to connect to a WiFi network. I encountered the exact same behaviour - could not connect to any WiFi networks.

I don't have acces to IOS 7.1 Beta 2 and Beta 3 at the moment and from what I've read, I will also need a Developer Account or registering my UDID before I can proceed further.

Okay....senior citizen here, but I did figure out a fix for my original post of not being able to connect to my wifi network with my phone, even though my laptop and ipad had no issues with connecting.

I travel back and forth from three states. Each state has a separate cable company. I use a Time Capsule for back up and routing. Each time I changed locations I experiencd difficulties setting up, so I just kept creating a "new network". This worked.....for a while. But this time when I lost wi-fi on the phone (and the wii) I looked into my timecapsule preferences and saw I had 6 different data folders. I know the Time Capsule backs up but I think it was having difficulty identifying WHICH data file to try. I eliminated all but the current data file and everything started working....phone is finally using it's wifi capabilities in my own network and so is the wii.

I realize this isn't the answer for everyone because I've tried all of the other suggestions offered that worked for them and not for me. Just offering this one, just in case......
