Trying to transfer mp4 vid from PC to iPad through iTunes

God, is this frustrating. I'm trying to move several mp4 vids from my desktop PC to my iPad 3. Apparently this has to be done through iTunes, which--in my limited experience with it--I"ve found to be somewhat less than user-friendly. Somehow I've gotten to the point where I can view each video tab in iTunes under "home videos", but cannot figure out how to get them from there to my iPad. Can someone pls point to a site that has step-by-step directions for iTunes newbies? Thanks.

Thanks much, Brenden. I briefly perused a couple of the articles; will do more after work. The ones I read tend to confirm my view of iTunes as an unwieldy mess. Why can't they make it a simple drag-and-drop?
