Sep 22, 2013 3:58 PM in response to Fedele1965by stevejobsfan0123,AirDrop does not work from iOS to OS X. Macs can only AirDrop to other Macs, and iOS devices can only AirDrop to other iOS devices at this time.

AirDrop only works from iOS to iOS. It does not work iOS to OS X. It says this in the article.

Sep 22, 2013 4:15 PM in response to Fedele1965by Fedele1965,Thanks a lot for your reply. But it is pathetic. And if we think that Apple sold the 'great' iOS7 twice in June and September and it is full of bugs and has limited functionality . . .

Sep 22, 2013 4:21 PM in response to Fedele1965by sberman,I completely disagree. Apple often introduces functionality in phases, a later phase may (or may not) include AirDrop between Macs and iOS devices. As for your "full of bugs" statement, I disagree with that as well.

Sep 22, 2013 4:24 PM in response to Fedele1965by Johnathan Burger,Where did Apple ever say airdrop would work between a Mac and iOS device?
Nowhere.
You made an assumption based on nothing.

Sep 22, 2013 4:36 PM in response to Johnathan Burgerby Fedele1965,Buddies, you are talking like lawyers - not like users. You are right, there was no representation of iOS7 to Mac communication but a normal user - call it an old Apple fan - would have taken it for granted. The point is that wihtout iOS to Mac functionality the feature had much less value!
I am not a fan of Windows or anything else, just switched to Macbook Air for that matter, which is generally a great product. But I had trouble with notes and sometime reminders syncronization (which btw seems to have improved with iOS7 on my devices). And let's not forget the Apple maps flop. Now Airdrop works only according to the small print . . . And the worse is that Apple was mocking Samsung about their version of it.
Anyway, this is a technical forum not a ******** one, I was just expressing my doubts and concerns - I think we do a favour to Apple management telling them they are messing it up. There is nothing more dangerous than self complacence

Sep 22, 2013 4:43 PM in response to Fedele1965by sberman,I completely disagree.
By the way, it was clearly stated at the WWDC in June that AirDrop would be between iOS devices. That discussion by the Apple execs was available at Apple.com for about three months for all to view.
That is in addition to the written description of iOS provided on Apple's website since June.

Sep 22, 2013 4:56 PM in response to sbermanby Fedele1965,I am glad you guys are happy. Question is whether the hundreds of millions more fans needed to keep the business going share your unreserved support.
Sounds to me like a Motorola 2 or Blackberry 2 movie, but we'll see.

Sep 22, 2013 4:58 PM in response to Fedele1965by Fedele1965,And btw, dont get me wrong: I love Apple products and I find this community amazing. I reported two problems (this plus another issue with Skype video . . . which is all Apple fault) and got replies in no time which is genuinely wonderful.
I just want Apple to stay great and have fears about it changing . . .

Change is the way we progress. Change is a prerequisite to "stay great". (I do not mean to sound like I'm speaking for Apple here - these opinions are exclusively my own.)

If you are referring to the issue where Skype does not recognize the camera on a mid-2013 MacBook Air after the OS X 10.8.5 update, there is a strong counterargument to your assertion it is all "Apple's fault". It's buried deep within the lengthy discussion on Skype's community here:

Nov 4, 2013 10:20 PM in response to Fedele1965by Turbopgt,It doesn't work from iOS to iOS either. Trust me, I'm not iOS slouch. Nor am I unfamiliar with support articles.
Airdrop doesn't work. Tried it with contacts only, everyone, etc... Doesn't matter. I've gotten it to work once in all my testing. It simply doesn't work.
