Fair play...

Was just venting as had spent ages trying to rectify something that is apparent on all models I have seen.

It is a great handset, and I hold my hands up to being negative and moaning for moaning sake.

I am made up with it. The power button issue is a pain but can think of far worse things to be honest.

One can quite easily be drawn into trying to find fault with something just for the sake of it.

So.... I retract my negative comments.

I have inspected over 30 units now and the condition being raised is apparent on all seen. This also included gold and silver models too.

Just returned from the Topanga CA Apple store where I showed my day old iPhone 5S to the Genius, who readily said he would replace. After erasing my phone he discovered the replacement phone did the same thing, then a 2nd unit did also. He called over a Manager who went to the back room and came out to tell me that she is very sorry my $700 phone rattles in my ear but that it is "within Apple's spec". She then tried to tell me that it was the vibration system of the phone, but I quickly corrected her and asked her to place her finger gently on the power button and the noise disappears. She offered to "note my account" but that she could not check for another unit.

My mother purchased the same model on release day (32GB Space Gray AT&T) and it does not have this rattle AT ALL!!!!! I had a iPhone5 that made no such noise. I've had every model iPhone since and put up with no speakerphone (original) bad wifi radios (3G and 3GS), battery problems (4 and 5). In the grand scheme, this isn't the biggest problem in the world, my disappointment is in the response at the store, which was "I would be really frustrated if I were you, but oh well, who's next?"

Please see my comment from 2:16 PDT. The issue (non-issue) is a growth opportunity, not only in this community but for employees of Apple as well.
