Q: Some 10.8 clients do not display the network user option at login

I have a new Mac Pro Server 10.8.5, eight new Mac Minis and two iMacs for clients.  Some of them display the "Other..." login option, and some do not.  If I wait a few minutes, a small left pointing arrow appears next to the login/password that alows me to 'go back' (even though the machine was never there) and select "Other..."  This will be an issue for the typical impatient user.

What is causing the delay on some of them?  The other clients display the "Other..." option immediately.

Thank you!

Note:  All of the machines are running the same O/S - 10.8.5

UPDATE:  All computers are brand new, and running the same O/S (10.8.5).  It appears that network connectivity is working perfectly. There are two Windows laptops on the network temporarily until the Macs begin to behave, and I added my Windows laptop to the network.  The Windows Vista and Windows 7 clients are performing beautifully, as is the VoIP server and new VoIP phone system - no speed issues (new HP Gigabit PoE switch, new Cisco router, new CAT-6 wiring), crystal clear voice quality, no speed or connectivity issues.

The Macs are sluggish to authenticate, if at all.  The Mac Server has been tested, retested, and all services are passing their tests.  I have not been able to locate a good Mac Kerberos tutorial.  I suspect that if the Kerboros authentication is not working properly, it could be the root of the issue.  All articles I find on Mac Kerberos either don't address it due to "not needed in a home environment" or they go off the deep end with integration with other servers, AD's, etc...

Help!  We're ready to take these Macs back and buy PC's!
