I have the same issue!
I have uninstalled itunes and tried to re-install it by using compatibility settings but it still keeps crashing right after executing the program..!
I have quite new Vaio with Win8 64bit and iTunes 11.1.2 (also 11.1.1) will install perfectly (why in ProgramFiles(x86) if it's 64bit app?), I can login but crashes every times when trying to connect to iTunes Store...
Dears, EXACTLY as SlartibartfastPL said ! New Vaio pro, Win 8.1 ( same problem on Win 8 ) and iTunes 11.1.2 as it was in iTunes 11.1.1 ! Did everyone solve it ? Apple please help !!
Dears, I have followed up the indications in the link stated by brankitt ! NO result ! Same problem ! Reinstalling is not solving it ! Maybe a future update ?!

Alternatively, I was successful just copying the QTMovieWin.dll from c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\ INTO c:\program files (x86)/iTunes
It works for me !
Haha! I just came to this conclusion on my way 🙂 I've read this and finally found some free time to read my vaio's application log (huh, this should be a first step!...) and copying QTMovieWin.dll is the best solution, simple and easy. Probably better than including location QTMovie in %PATH%, very very long by intel and vaio apps paths.
Anyway, thanks petrescufrombucharest 🙂
Now I must find way to move iTunes data from old vaio to new one
Thanks, solution worked great. 🙂
Hi, there. You are a life saver. Thanks to you I can now do my jogging listening to my favorite songs!
Thank you SO MUCH! I've been so frustrated by this issue and couldn't find a solution anywhere. When iTunes updates, will I have to do this again or will the file stay copied? To rephrase, is this a permanent solution or will I need to do it after every update until the problem is resolved by Apple?
You're a life saver. Adding a copy of QTMoviewin.dll to the itunes folder works for me as well, even though I have itunes installed on a different drive (E:) than 'common files' (c:). I'm on Windows 8.1.
Hi, I've been having this problem too. I've uninstalled, reinstalled. and it keeps "stoped working" message. ugh!
I've read the Q&A's and I'm not understanding this copy the "QTMoviewin.dll" where do I copy this from and where do I copy this too. Not sure how to do all this. Is this explained in the application log? Thanks so much to all who reply to this.
I tried this and i didn't work then later when i went to try it again my apple folder was gone
