Can I buy an iPhone 5s connected to a carrier without activating it in the store or giving carrier information

Title says it all, I use a phone service that is simply a run off of Sprint. I have it running on my Sprint iPhone 4s that is not unlocked just fine, and I was thinking its a good time to upgrade. So, am I able to just walk into my local apple store, buy a nice shiny new Sprint iPhone 5s, and not activate it there or give any Sprint account infromation, pay, and leave? Thanks for any input! 🙂
