Music app in iOS7 - glitch?

OK. There is a weird glitch in the Music app, when accessed via the Home button after putting the phone to sleep and coming back.

So you listen to Music through the headphone, and then you quit. Pull out the phone from the jack, the app has stopped, you go do some other stuff, and a couple hours later you decide to plug the headphones in, and then you click on the Home button.

You expect to flick up (because the double click thing to pull up the Play button no longer exists) - so pull up on the new fangled window with all the basic stuff which includes the Music app, along with Bluetooth, Wifi, Flashlight, etc etc, you know that page called Control Center.

And, for some reason, the song you last played isn't there. No song is there. So you press Play anyway - and it starts playing some random song. It hasn't remembered the last song you played.

Has this happened to you?

What is this glitch and can somebody fix it ASAP, because it's seriously annoying to be surprised when this happens. Unless, somebody has an explanation as to why this is happening?

Well, this can have numerous reasons. Of of them being that the music app crashed in the background - which of course shouldn't happen. If that is the case, a restore of iOS via iTunes might help!

But another question first: How are you playing your songs? Do you use playlists, play artists, ... ? This might have something to do with it because, for example, I noticed that playlists are pretty messed up for me under iOS 7.

Yes, I do use playlists - but regardless - it should REMEMBER, like it used to before, when on iOS6.

This switch to iOS7 has obviously messed something up when it installed the new Control Center.

I just want it to remember the last song and place it played, so I can continue to play from there, as before, when I come back to plug in my headphones to listen again.

I'll add "me too" to the list.

When I've unplugged my headphones, it seems that the progress has been lost, so as to speak - so for example, if I was 1hr into a 2hr MP3, then it's forgotten it was playing it and I have to reopen it and skip to that point again.

Also, I've noticed that when music is playing sometimes, the progress bar on the lock screen doesn't move at all - like it's not playing (the pause and FF/RW buttons still work, though). I also can't seem to seek from the homescreen. Sometimes, no matter how hard I try, it just won't seek without me unlocking it.

Then, I've had music playing, unlocked the phone and the track has skipped back to the previous point that I was at in the music. The whole "bookmarking" thing seems to be broken.

Regards,

M.

I am a 4s user/teacher in a classroom of about 15 other iPhone users and most of us upgraded to iOS 7. It is a mixed bunch, but several users have 4, 4s, and 5, but only 4 of us are having this problem. The only comparison I can draw is that we all (those with the problem) connect more than just headphones. In my case, I have an alarm clock dock overnight, headphones during the day, and Bluetooth sync while I am driving. It seems to happen to me when I change audio output devices. I already did a restore from backup so I'm not sure there is anything I can do about it, but I will keep my eye on this page and hope that someone finds a solution or Apple takes the problem seriously.

This is merely a me-too to bump this. I have the same problem.

I was also hoping that 7.0.2 would fix this, and was disappointed.

Further to the comment by Fowuz, I play music either through the iPhone's speakers or through a bluetooth speaker.

Apple has made a huge push in OS X towards maintaining state (e.g., shutdown and restart can return you to all open apps & windows), but in iOS7 Apple has failed here.

I just posted this to <http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html>...

Hi,

It appears that the native Music app in iOS7 is having a hard time picking up where it left off when the user switches away to another app and then switches back.

I did the following:

***************

Start playing "The Way I Should" using native iOS7 Music app. Hit home button (song still playing). Swipe up for Control Center, hit pause at 1:01 into song. Hit home button. Launch Human Body app (which outputs sound); allow app to finish loading, play with app for a few seconds, then exit Human Body by tapping home button. Swipe up for Control Center - Control Center does NOT show "The Way I Should." Hitting play re-begins "The Way I Should" song (from 0:00) in native iOS7 Music app.

***************

Immediately thereafter...

***************

Start playing "The Way I Should" using native iOS7 Music app. Hit home button (song still playing). Swipe up for Control Center, hit pause at 0:44 into song. Hit home button. Launch Human Body app (which outputs sound); allow app to finish loading, play with app for a few seconds, then exit Human Body by tapping home button. Swipe up for Control Center - Control Center DOES show "The Way I Should." Hitting play unpauses "The Way I Should" song (from 0:44) in native iOS7 Music app.

Yeah well -

Oops - it did NOT remember. Again. Today.

So hopefully it gets fixed, because it's annoying.

Oh yeah and by the way - mine thought that is was iOS6 and for a minute allowed me to double-click the home button from sleep and showed me the music app so I can play from there without going to the Control Center!

But it's gone to iOS7 glitches again. 😕😢

The one area in iOS 7 where maintaining state has improved is in the App Store. It used to drive me crazy that if I was browsing results of a search that returned 3200 results (for example), but went into app 125 in the list to read the description, when I returned to the list I was back at app 1. This also happened in the Purchased list. So far in iOS 7 that hasn't happened (yet) and I'm pleased that it was finally fixed.

But not at the expense of all of the other bugs. This is the buggiest iOS version I've used since I first got a 3G in 2008.
