Safari not return to same place on page

Before the ios7 upgrade, when I read online newspapers using safari I would select a story and when I had finished it I would close it and Safari would auto-return to the same place in the newspaper that I was at before I 'broke-out' to read the full story.

Since the upgrade safari does not take me back to the original location in the newspaper but takes me to either the top of the paper or just below it.

Is this just another ios7 foible or is there a setting which must be selected?

It means the page refreshed, as newspapers frequently do. Try turning off the new background app refresh feature under general in settings

Certain websites like news or any other that is continually updating will automatically refresh the page. Not much you can do about it.

One suggestion is you install another browser. You don't have to use safari. It could be different on another as different browsers behave differently.

Thank you for the various suggestions. I appreciate sites update but before the ios7 upgrade Safari would revert back correctly. It is so odd that this ability has been lost. I might try a different browser.

There seems to be a new way to return to the previous Safari page besides using the back navigation button. Swiping the page from left to right will also return you to the previous page, and put you at the previous spot on the page and not the top. This seems a bit silly to me, but it seems to work.

That's a Safari bug. Report it to Apple with details on websites, etc at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

I just confirmed with Apple T/S that this is something that Safari can NOT do any more in either OSX and iOS7. The only workaround is to open link in new page or tab. Or as someone mentioned, switch browsers, which is what I'm doing. Chrome works just fine in iOS and OSX. Not sure I understand the rational behind that decision. This is standard browser behavior.
