Where is My Current Wallpaper Located?

Seems pretty f'd up to me.

It's my picture on my device and they've hijacked it and put it somewhere I can't find it without even warning me or allowing me access to it?

Thanks Apple for another brilliant, head-scratching 'improvement'.

The problem is simple - why do I have to go search for the back-up in the first place?

- I can see the photo on my iPad.

- Hence, the photo is stored somewhere on my iPad.

- So why should I have to go searching through a back-up somewhere else to access it??

That makes no sense.

Why does Apple feel the need to hide the photo from me, the user and owner of the photo?

Is there a work-around? As you pointed out, yes.

But it's completely unnecessary as far as I can tell and forces the user to go through unnecessary hoops.

of course the photo is 'on my device' - otherwise, how would it show up on my wallpaper?

It should be simple, but Apple had made it complicated. My phone can access this photo, but I cannot. Why?

If you go on Safari and put "iphone water droplets" in the search bar and then go to images in the results you will find the photo you want. Then you can put it in your iPhone Photos and select it for your Wallpaper and use it for lock screen or home screen.

I don't understand the problem. Use one of the back up copies you kept of the photo.

inkedmommy323 - I'm not sure what you mean by "built in" wallpaper - it's my photo we're talking about, not one of the stock photos from Apple

and according to Meg, "it's stored in a location not accessible to users" - so if she's right (and I think she is), then it is 'hidden'

if you restored from a backup, but imported you pictures and deleted them from the device, but still had it set as the background, it would come back, but it wouldnt be saved anymore.

but you also said that it was a background that was originally a default on the device, and it no longer is, so if course it isnt there anymore. it was saved as your background, but not in your pictures

It is stored in a cache that is not accessible to users. If you change wallpapers, it will, for all practical purposes, be gone.

they didnt hide it from you, exactly, it just isnt one of the built in wallpapers anymore.

if you no longer have the photo on your device, there is no way to access it.
