Cellular Data Settings

I'm not sure I completely understand the cellular data setting in IOS7. When using facetime it seems to default to using cellular data even when connected to a network. Anyone know why? I don't remember having to mess with any cellular settings in IOS6.

The result of this is a very erratic connection in facetime. Voice cutting out all the time, even had a loud echo during one call.

Anyone else having this issue?

Do I have to remember to turn off cellular data when making a facetime call while in a wifi network?

I may need to clarify my earlier post. I don't think my iphone 4S is defaulting to cellular data usage when connected to a wifi and using Facetime, I think it may be defaulting to 3G. I have now turned off all cellular data on the phone when connected to wifi, Facetime seems to be working better today. Just not sure why I have to mess with a setting I didn't before upgrade to IOS7??? Could the problem be my modem? It's very old.

One more. There seems to be a bunch of confusion over what the cellular data settings are used for. Anyone know?

Your old modem could definately be the problem. Also is it optimized to handle facetime calls?

Paul, don't know if modem is optimized for facetime calls or not, not sure how to check either. All I know is we had no problems until upgrade to ios7.
