Q: logic pro 9.1.8 won't upgrade to logic 9.0.2

I have ML that is up to date and logic studio 9.1.8. When I try to run 9.1.8 (1700.67) (64-bit) I get to a splash screen that says "Searching for Audio Unit plug-ins (Apple:AUNetReceive).....and I have the spinning beachball of the death. I have to use force quit the app.

I downloaded the 9.0.2 update and the installer tells me that I dont need the update.

Anything going on here?

I can't open or use logic 9

I have logic studio installed if this helps.

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), early 2009 8 core 2.4Ghz processors

Sorry to state the obvious (?) but you are not Updating/Upgrading.
You are DOWN grading if you are going from 9.1.8 to 9.0.2

If you want to downgrade, likely you will need to ERASE, and reinstall Logic.
