Apple Warranty vs. Best Buy Warranty

Best Buy sends all the iPods to Apple for warranty work.

I just contact apple if anything happens to mu iPod within one year of puchasing it, then after that I call Best Buy. Am I Right?

Read the Best But warranty very carefully. If it is not spelled specifically, it will not be covered. Best Buy and most extended warranties are almost always useless, if not an outright rip-off.

I actually found the Best Buy warranty very useful. My 4G iPod stopped working after about a year and a half. I took it into my local Best Buy, showed them the problem, and they replaced it with a 5G iPod.

I believe if you call Best Buy and go through the whole procedure outlined in the service plan they send it to Apple. But, when I took mine into Best Buy, they just replaced it at the store with a newer iPod.

Also, the warranty that comes with your iPod covers many things. For the most part, if the iPod breaks within one year of purchase, Apple will repair it. The only exception is if you cause it. For example, if you drop your iPod, Apple will not fix it. This is the same with Best Buy, as Best Buy won't replace it or send it in to be fixed (if you are responsible for the problem). Best Buy's service plan just extends Apple's warranty to provide you with more protection.

Can't I just call them when it breaks
If the purchase is registered, Apple will know when the warranty begins and ends.
If you wait until you need help, you may have send in proof of purchase.

Yes, this is true.
If it stops working, you can get it repaired/replaced.

and that the best buy or other stores, that their's were much better and covered everything??
Everything? Not by far.
Extended warranties are simply free money to the store. If it breaks, Best Buy does not pay a dime to repair or replace the item.
They get to keep 1/3 of the price and the rest goes to the actual insurance company, who pays to repair or replace items.

Too many horror stories of people who have gotten ripped off because they were told the extended warranties did not cover it.
