Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

Sep 23, 2013 11:29 AM in response to lllaassby daviea,I have tried all these things, even uninstalled I tunes twice on 2 different laptops,keeps going through the whole set up and fails at the update part....its infuriating to say the least...thanks for your help though.
