Help! Text messages being sent to stranger?!?!

Okay. This is how it goes. This has never happened before and I have no idea what's going on.

I've been sending texts to my Mom's phone and she's been recieving them. But last night I sent her a a text (from the same conversation) and someone else replied this morning.

The thing is, my Mom could see the other person's texts on her phone as well, but the other person couldn't see what my Mom texted back to me.

Should I be turning iMessage off or something?

I have an iPhone 5 (iOS 7). She has an iPhone 4 (iOS 7).

By any chance did you associate her contact with another email address? Go back into your message to your mom and click the 'Contact' in the upper right and click 'i'. Anything with the little circle chat bubble is where the iMessage may possibly be going to. If you see an added email address that isn't your moms delete it from the contact. The person isn't seeing your moms text since she's sending it from her phone assuming that she has her contact information correct.

Not sure what the issue would be then. One other area to check is in your settings under settings->messages->send & receive. You should have 2 settings. One is for which addresses you can be reached on for iMessage and the other is the send from. Make sure the send from is set to either your phone number or Apple ID. Mine is set to my phone number since it's unique to me.
