Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I have some recommendations for this odd limitation. Start by force quitting your open apps. Save any work you may have before doing so.- Double-click the Home button.
- Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
- Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
Then restart the iPhone:
Restarting your iOS device
- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
- After the device has turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
From: iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Test the issue again at this point.
If it persists then you should try signing out of the iTunes.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
From: iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
Take care,
Sterling

Sep 25, 2013 8:18 AM in response to sterling rby Walter Starks,Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to know that this isn't the proper behavior. Your suggestions didn't help though. Now it appears that my stations are limited to a single genre. If I create a station for genre- celtic and then add to station genre- classic rock only celtic music will be played. If I return to the edit menu the entry for classic rock will be gone. I have also tried adding artists from other genres with the same results. I can add new artists to my celtic station, but only celtic artists.
