Can't Sign Into iMessage

Since upgrading to ios7 on my iPad4 I cannot sign in to imessage (or facetime either, not that I use it!) I keep getting the following message: "imessage activation could not sign in please check your network connection and try again" I have done everything short of doing a factory reset. I've done some searching here and followed links/instructions in other posts relating to imessage problems but nothing helps. What can I do?? (Everything works fine on my iPhone 4S)

iPad, iOS 7

I have this exact problem. I have tried numerous fixes and nothing works. I am beyond angry.

Thank you, Texas Mac Man but as I stated in my original message I've already tried everything I saw posted in other threads about this issue which includes the links you just posted here; none of it works/applies to my issue. My iPhone 4S sets up just fine over wifi, I just set it up for FaceTime which I don't use and it went right through. I just want to be able to sign in and be able to access iMessage on my iPad. I do wish Apple would get it's act together and fix this; I know I'm not the only one!

I called Apple Support after trying many fixes suggested online. They directed me to the procedure on the following page:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268?viewlocale=en_US

I did the erase and restore option they suggested since I had tried a pile of ther things suggested on posts and blogs and they did not work. I even waited the obligatory 24 hours, thus the restore from backup option was what they suggested. I have a 64gig iPhone 4S and it took about 1.5 hours to complete the entire operation seeing that I am using about 54 gigs of that capacity.

Warning: I lost all of my emails and all of the data files from one of my map programs so be sure you have everything that you really need from your phone store elsewhere before wiping your phone. I thought that the backup on my computer would restore everything but obviously NOT.

Hope this helps.

None of those "fixes" will work. There are a large number of iPad owners who are experiencing this. Since iOS 7 I keep getting signed out of Messages and FaceTime on my iPad. Fortunately reentering my password for the iCloud account gets me back in but I wind up having to do this almost every time the iPad goes to sleep. Many other others can't get in at all. I initially had that problem a day or so ago but since then reentering the password has worked. This is clearly an iOS 7 issue. Fortunately it has not affected my iPhone.

Be careful also if you are using iTunes Match. An erase and restore will wipe all the music off your device showing you all of it now in the cloud to be downloaaded. My wife got a new 5s phone and we decided to use her old 4s as essentially an ipod touch So I did a restore from a backup of the last phone we were using that way. That phone had all of our music on it. After the 4s was restored and back up and running I saw that all the music that had been on it when my wife was using it was gone, and the restore from back up did not replace the music from the prior phone.

So essentially this erase and restore should be considered a nuclear option. I would rather wait until a software update is released to deal with this. But at least I am able to get into Messages and Facetime by constantly reentering my password. For those of you that can't get in at all I can understand why you might want to try this.

Here is the down and dirty. Just had a customer come in with the same problem. iMessage worked on iphone but would fail connection on the iPad. I was able to fix by doing the following...takes only couple minutes

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

Note: This will not erase any of your saved information. I have been able to fix a majority of all problems using this method.

Hope this helps the rest of you.
