How do you turn off apps when not in use

For the most part, when you close and app (move back to the Home screen or open anotehr app), the app is basically shut down. For a handful - the Music app for instance - they may continue running. To shut these down, double click the Home button and swipe the app or apps in question up.

To qit apps in iOS 7 double click the Home button. Each app will display a preview page above its icon. Flick UP on the preview page. The preview page will fly away and the app icon will disappear.
