I am unable to delete an app in ios7

I downloaded ios7 the other day and now have a couple of apps I want off my phone for good. I can;t delete them though. For a long time now if I hold down on them till they wiggle there is no x. Previously I deleted in itunes when syncing. Now I can't do that. I have tried clicking the screen/page they are on in Itunes selecting each app and hitting delete but that doesn;t work either. I want these apps off my phone so how do I do that?
