Popup asks me to sign into Icloud w/ wrong account name

I just recently did the update of IOS7 on my iphone 4. Now my iphone 4 has a continuous, never ending pop saying "Sign in to iCloud", HOWEVER, it keeps asking me for the Apple ID password for the wrong account. Everytime I put in my password, it doesn't match because I can't change the account to the correct account.

I've googled this and I've tried shutting off Imessage, I've tried shutting off Icloud, I've tried deleting the Icloud account, I've tried going to the App store to make sure there were no downloads pending, I've tried shutting off Face Time, and I've also tried changing the account back to the original/correct account but it won't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use this phone for work and I CANNOT make calls, check emails, check messages, etc. w/ this continuous popup. I need a fix yesterday!!!!!!!!!!

All you have to do is change your password on the appleid page then o into the endless loop phone and go into settings then click the icloud tab, and you will be getting the prompt the entire way and it will get irritating. Now make sure you are connected into the internet, and then go to edit your apple id, and put in your new password. You will only get in 1 or 2 characters in between each prompt so take it slow. After you finally get your new paasword in, you should save it and get the 3 ✔️✔️✔️. Finally, put your new password into the prompt and it should work.

i am currently trying to restore an ipad. i got it to recovery mode. the first person who registered it ( a co-worker for another co-worker) put a gmail that he doesnt use or know. so finally, i got the thing restored, but its stating i have to "turn off the find my ipad" under that original set up. I cannot get past that screen in the set up of the ipad mini, and so far, all i have done was secure a wireless connection.

HOW can i get past this "activate ipad" that s currently being linked to xxxxx@gmail.com? I do not have that apple id, and i do not know how to by pass this so i can put in the CORRECT apple ID and password. I am under warranty still, and think the next thing to do is take the receipt and devise to apple because they refused to help me when i was down there last week with this problem.. PLEASE HELP ASAP. I NEED TO GET PAST THIS ACTIVATE IPAD without the original login for icloud or itunes.

Lets just admit that this is a big old IOS glitch that is caused by Apple and nobody else. Apple has made it a PITA to change and re-use passwords that we are familiar with and the dumbdest fix I ever heard of is to use a very unreliable restore option as well as having to use yet another password.

Why doesn't somebody explain _WHY_ this happened out of the blue rendering my iPhone useless? And my god, isn't there a way to delete the dumb iCloud account since I never used it without using a new password and other hocus-pocus BS?

Prinney, your case is different than those discussed here in that you still have an old account associated with "find my phone" active. This is a security thing in ios 7 to keep stolen phones and iPads from being erased and reused with new accounts. Your only choice here is to find that password. I heard that an apple store can reset it, but I have also heard they can't .

Just so you guys know, this issue is also caused by PIRATED music. DRM locked music purchased through iTunes is tied to an Apple ID and the different account prompts are trying to validate that you're the original purchaser for the song(s).

If you go in your iTunes app ON YOUR IPHONE, go to the more section on the bottom right, then select "Downloads". If there are songs there that have a "Download error. Tap to retry." message underneath the song name, it is most likely the issue. Just go to your iTunes app ON YOUR COMPUTER and delete those songs then resync your phone.

Had same problem. Solution was that not connected to any wifi or data network. In brief moments between popups could turn on cellular data and then when password entered it is passed through.

Messed about about with Apple ID site but makes no difference if phone can't talk to it.

I faced the same frustrating problem. My iPhone started asking me to log into iCloud using my old email ID. The prompt started coming suddenly from nowhere. After trying different methods, I restored using the following link.

If you can't update or restore your iOS device

I restored to new iPhone and after recovering the prompt stopped!

I could still get my contacts and other apps from iCloud.

Thank you for this very helpful resolution of a miserable problem. Just one hint for others who follow PaulStel's excellent advice. Remember that both times you change the AppleID, you must wait for the verification email and do the verification stuff. This obviously means that you need to login using another computer or device, not the one with the pop-up problem. This also means that if the pop-up nightmare refers to an email address which no longer works, this method probably will not work.
