That is not true.
If you're ellegible for your upgrade, you'll have the ability to upgrade to the 4s, reknewing your 2-year contract. They will not simply take in your 4 and give you a 4s without reknewing, or reseting so to speak, your contract. The same applies to unlocked 4s, you'll have to purchase it for whatever it currently costs, as opposed to a simple trade-in.
