I'm still having these issues, among a million others. No matter what I've tried, my phone arbitrarily chooses what to sync. Apple no longer has the capacity to fix these issues. After Jobs passed, Jony Ive has made political moves for the crown, pushing out all the good people (Scott Forstall, Greg Christie) from the company. We're just going to have to get used to the decaying quality, or abandon a once great software/hardware ecosystem and settle for Android/Windows.

That is a bit negative.

I agree this one has done its dash in that it will never be fixed and eventually on one will own an iPhone 4, so the problem will go away.

You are right, that many discussions do veer off topic.

That said, if you are willing to dig around, often you will find a solution.

The more complex the problem, the harder you have to dig.

My advice for this one it to buy a new iPhone. I have, and all I good.

Otherwise, live with it and buy the PhotoSync app from the App Store.

Cheers

I don't know when Apple fixed this problem but iCloud My Photo Stream has been working now for me for almost a month.
When I originally posted back in December of 2013 it would stop working after a day or two.

What worked for me was pretty easy.

If there are any photos in your My Photo Stream folder on the PC that you haven't already saved anywhere then Open the folder and safe the files somewhere on your PC. The procedure below will sync your PC to iCloud and any old photos in My Photo Stream will be deleted when the PC, iCloud and all of your iOS connected devices are sync'd.

For a PC.

1. Open iCloud Control Panel

2. Click the Sign out tab in the lower left corner.

3. Click Keep copy

4. If Outlook is open then save your work and allow Close Outlook and continue.

5. You will get a message that iCloud stuff is saved in Outlook and iCloud Photos are turned off.

6. Sign back into iCloud with your Apple ID.

7. Check the boxes to select the items you want to sync to your PC with iCloud and click Apply

8. Click Merge to merge bookmarks with iClould (if you checked that box).

It will download items from iCloud and tell you Setup is complete.Click Done and Close.

It will take some time to down load all your photos to My Photo Stream on the PC as well as any shared streams you may have.

iCloud only keeps photo stream photos in iCloud for 30 days, even though your last 1000 photo will remain on your device until deleted. Updating the iOS deletes everything from the phone; reconnecting to photo stream redownloads photos from the last 30 days (as older ones are no longer in iCloud).

To keep your photos permanently, import them to your computer while they are still in your camera roll (or save them to your camera roll from your photo stream album), as explained here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

I found that iCloud Photos in shared photo streams remained even though they were much older than 30 days.

My Photos does not sync videos by design. It sounds like iOS 8 will enhance iCloud photo sharing but I don't know if it will include video syncing.

What isn't well known is that Photo Stream / iCloud will not syncronize photos to and from your iOS devices unless the Camera App on your iOS device is closed. In order to close it, you need to press the Home button twice to show all running apps, swipe left and right to find it, and then swipe upward on the Camera App to close it. Afterwards your photos should sync properly.

I didn't read all the posts so I don't know if this helps, but I reset the phone settings and I turned off photo stream (settings-icloud-photos- turn off photo stream). then i went into settings-photos- and deleted the photo stream. went to photos and had 0 pics in photo stream. when i clicked on it it started adding all the pics again. still didn't help.

I then went to my photos and selected all of them and chose shared photos. put my account info in and they showed up in my shared folder on my computer. Then I added them to photo stream.

I know this does't fix the problem, but it's a temp band-aid until I figure it out.

Hope this helps. this is my first time posting in a forum so please be kind.

Here's my interesting experience: I've spent endless hours trying upload photos from my SD card, via ipad, to many services, and each has failed. I tried a 3rd party flickr batch upload app, as well as g+, and neither is working. This is simply ridiculous. The problem is clearly ios7, and we have been complaining for almost a year. Syncing photos or uploading in the background simply dont work, end of story. I am traveling long-term with only an iPad mini retina, so how am I supposed to upload all theses photos from my camera's SD card, which I transferred to photo roll via connection kit?

Thanks a lot Apple. I'm really stuck here and see no sign of your help, so Im ready to go buy an Android table and sell my mini.

HI,

i have same problem since updating to ios7 but think I've found the issue.

i have to quit the Camera app first - then syncing to iCloud occurs. I don't just mean switch to another app - no - I mean use the task manager to stop Camera app.

My process is to double tap the home button, find the camera app, and slide it up and off the screen - then my photos appear on my iPad.

it was mentioned here iCloud: Get help using My Photo Stream

That is right, ian. I mentioned it earlier in this endless thread. The upload will only start, when you close the Camera.app. This enables you to delete all bad photos from the Camera Roll, before they upload to iCloud and all your other devices.

Also, Photo Stream will not upload,
