11/19/2013. This is still a problem. At best, photostream will sync 1-2 photos from my iPhone to my Macs. Most of the time it will sync nothing. This is a major PITA and has ruined one of the best features of iOS.

Any word on ios 7.0.4 addressing this issue?

I saw it includes updates to icloud key-chain, which was also starting to annoy me as I'd be playing a racing game and in the middle of a turn it would start skipping, then pause completely so icloud could ask me to verify my key-chain password, the same one I had verified minutes before.

But this photo stream thing has me so perplexed that I just shut it off on my phone, my tablet, and my wife's phone.  For the past four months I've been finishing grad school while my wife was on maternity leave with our now four month old baby.  I was home maybe 8-10 hours a day, and half of that was sleeping.  But our phones and my tablet are on the same icloud account, so I relied on her pictures being pushed to my (our) photo stream to keep me in touch with my daughter's first months.  Perfect example of what photo stream was designed for, right?  But sometimes her camera roll would push to photo stream, and a lot of times it wouldn't, so I was still missing out.

I tried multiple solutions on  several levels.  I have turned photo stream off and on several times on all the connected devices and computers.  I saved the photos off her phone, deleted them from the phone, then re-imported them to her camera roll.  I reset her settings; I even backed up her phone to save the pictures, then did a system restore followed by restoring the back up to recover her camera roll.  But her photos are still only randomly pushed from her camera roll to photo stream.  There is no discernable pattern either.  Her phone is on wifi and above 20% battery, but only 1 or 2 photos, if any, will push.  If it is off wifi or below 20% battery, then is returned to wifi and charged, it will again push a few, if any at all.

It's the random selection that's the most irritating part.  If nothing was pushed, we'd know what wasn't shared between our devices.  But with a few here and a few there, it takes side by side comparisons to figure out what I was missing while I was away.  Without reliability, this feature loses all the convenience it was designed for.

So my solution was to shut it off.  We shut off photo stream on all devices, but kept shared photos open and set up a shared stream without any subscribers.  Luckily, the collections tab in camera roll offers the ability to share a batch of photos with one touch (versus individually selecting each photo).  Each day or two, my wife will go to her collections in camera roll and post the prior days' collections ("moments" as camera roll calls them) in their entirety.  Occasionally camera roll even fails these posting attempts, but as this failure is by complete moments and not a partial failure, it's very easy to spot omissions and re-attempt the post (which frequently works).

Here's hoping 7.0.4 will address this problem.

Was yours having issues with randomly pushing photos from camera roll to photo stream, as well as posting from camera roll to a shared album?

I just posted a question about this update, but hadn't read all the replies, so I missed yours before asking.

My wife's phone will only push some photos from camera roll to photo steam, with no discernable pattern (this includes icloud on/off status, photo stream status, wifi connection, battery charge, and camera app open/close status).  I have literally taken 10 pictures in a row with her phone, and after 10 minutes only 2 would push from camera roll to photo stream.  Then I would take another 10 in a row, and only 3 or 4 of the new ones would post, without anymore of the 1st 10 ever posting.

I'm hoping that 7.0.4 will fix this.

I signed out if iCloud control panel at home at at the office and signed back in (and tried all the other fix suggestions) and I thought it'd started to work but out of my 4,000 pictures (I'm aware only the 1000 most recent sync) only FOUR have synced to my PC's.  They're not even the 4 most recent pictures though.  Phone is on my charger and on wifi.

That sounds all too familiar.  Are you on 7.0.4?

    Well... crap.

By the way, my reply was meant to question the update's ability to address this issue, not to question your ability to troubleshoot.  It doesn't look like you misunderstood, but I just wanted to be clear.

Spent 3 hours chatting with several techs at Apple.

My photos from my iPhone were inconsistently uploaded to photostream.  Some photos were, others weren't and no pattern to it. I had 994 items in my photostream on iPhone.  On new iPad Mini only  9 photos out of 994 were in photostream when I set the ipad up.

They had me turn off photostream on iPhone and then turn off and on iPhone.  Then turn off photostream on iPad and turn device off and on.  After I did this I had 9 photos on both my iPhone and iPad and it looked like my photosstream had been deleted.  But photos that I took on both devices were now uploaded to the photostream.

One tech told me turning off Photostream on a device deleted the photostream photos on that device only and another tech told me turninng off Photostream on any device deleted your photostream completely.

I was upset with the inconsistent responses.

Then after chat I decided to look at the photostream on my Air and there were 994 photos there.  My complete photostream and the new photos I took to test iphone and ipad were added to this.

So this appears to be a syncing issue in ios 7.  The photostream is complete in the cloud but doesn't get completely synced to ios 7.0.4 devices.

I spent at least half an hour at store yesterday. I hadn't read this thread in advance.

They (Genius Bar) acted as if they'd never heard of this issue.

Of course, the one photo we took there synced.

Now, not synching. Hasn't for 2 days.

They "fixed" it by setting up a shared cloud account. This is not a fix.

    Very frustrating.

APPLE, YOU broke it, YOU fix it!

"My Photo Stream" was fantastic before iOS 7. The main problem everybody is having is that photos taken on iPhone do not automatically transfer to "My Photo Stream" like they did before iOS 7.

How many people are supposed to have this problem before it is fixed? This trend alone has been viewed 27223 times so far...

I also have had this problem with the photostream since updating to iOS 7. I found photostream very useful when my devices had iOS 6.

I only seem to have the problem with my iPhone 4S. No problems with uploading on my iPad Mini.

I do hope this is fixed soon.

What a mess. It worked until the end of October, I'm sure. But no November 2013 photo stream anywhere on any of my devices. How can Apple a) be so incompetent and b) so silent. They really need to get rid of the 'programming for fanboys' mentality and get professional.

Just wanted to add a "me too" to this thread.  Apple needs to fix this!  When I was on ios6 I could delete pix from my phone when I had too many to clear up space, but I had the last 1000 pix in the photostream in case I wanted to go back and see something. Not anymore.  I used to use photostream to acces pix between my iphone and ipad.  Not anymore since going to ios7.  Pix I take are COMPLETELY RANDOMLY being put into photostream.  I sit here and test it, taking pix, and it's completely random.  Doesn't matter if I'm on wifi or not, if I'm on my home wifi or not, it doesn't matter.  I've never seen photostream have more than a couple hundred pix or so since upgrading to ios7.  Never gets anywhere near 1000.
