Sep 25, 2013 6:28 PM in response to tiffgby ChinatsuM,Hey so here's a solution but you will lost your iMovie Project. hope it helps:
1. Go to Finder --> Movies
2. delete the iMovie Events and the iMovie Projects folder. The next time you open iMovie it will auto generate the two folders, reseting iMovie to default in the way.
CAUTION!!!: If you delete the two folders you can't recover it again, and even if you save the projects in project mode (Like the photo below) After you reset iMovie and you try to open that project again it will tell you source clip not find and your video won't be able to play....
So make your decision wisely
And btw here's a good video converter for your future projects

Sep 26, 2013 1:02 AM in response to ChinatsuMby Bengt Wärleby,Hi
Wasn't there some Cameras where You needed to Connect Camera - or Card-reader and from Within iMovie import.
That just drag and drop files from Card/Camera to DeskTop didn't work.
But the full structure were needed for import.
But as this is a Camera as:
- Video Resolution : 720 x 480
- Format : SD (MPEG2)
and no AVCHD or else - it should work as before
mpeg-2 use to crave the MPEG-2 component from Apple. But may be not here ?
Yours Bengt W

Sep 26, 2013 3:51 AM in response to Bengt Wärlebyby Klaus1,mpeg2 is the highly compressed DVD format. I am unaware of any version of iMovie that can use that. Am I wrong?
