Update Security Software to allow application…

I'm trying to open an application and it says I need to update my security application. I have no Security Application that I know of. Is there one built into Mountain Lion?

Mountain Lion uses Apple's Gatekeeper - check your System Preferences>Security & Privacy and see if you are allowing only App Store applications to run.

If you do set the settings to "Anywhere" I would be very careful with what you install. I have my setting as "Mac App Store and identified developers" and seldom have the need to change it to "Anywhere."
